In 2009 PPA Charities nearly doubled its previous year's contribution to charitable partner Operation Smile, when it presented a check for $100,000 to the highly regarded Virginia-based charity whose mission is repairing childhood facial deformities including cleft lips and cleft palates.

This donation was made possible by the studio clients who purchased portraits as part of a PPACH Operation Smile Studio campaign and/or a Family Portrait Month promotion. As a result, 416 more children's lives will be changed forever.

Through PPA Charities, talented and dedicated members of Professional Photographers of America join together each year to offer consumers special opportunities to help save the smiles of youngsters around the world through their purchase of portraits of their family members.

Through their fund-raising activities, these PPA photographers and their clients support the work of widely the widely respected international charity, Operation Smile. Just as business of photographers is creating smiles for their appreciative clients, the passion of Operation Smile's medical professionals and support staff is saving smiles by repairing childhood facial deformities including cleft lips and cleft palates. It costs only $240 to complete a simple cleft-palate operation because Operation Smile's team members volunteer their services.
